De VDMXL-Process Map: Coherence between processes, the organisation, IT-tool(s), KPI’s and content?
Maintenance & Asset Management professionals:
NFV will together with Mainnovation offer a special webinar series “VDMXL Deep Dive Sessions”.
Value Driven Maintenance & Asset Management, or simply VDMXL, explains how maintenance, extending the service life, and modernization can add maximum economic value to an existing plant or fleet, or to existing infrastructure. The work is based on a quantitative control model, a control panel with 12 KPIs, sector-specific benchmarks, and over 50 best practices.
The topic for this webinar is De VDMXL-Process Map: Coherence between processes, the organisation, IT-tool(s), KPI’s and content?
Many Maintenance and Asset Management organizations have grown organically, and there is nothing wrong with that in itself. For the people involved in this growth, it all makes sense. Some choices were a compromise under pressure from stakeholders at the time. Sometimes organizations are built around people and not based on clear roles and responsibilities. Some IT tools have been configured to copy the functionality of old IT tools. In some large companies, different maintenance departments or teams work in a totally different way.
Do you recognize this? At Mainnovation, we audit dozens of companies every year. At both large and small organizations, we come across these issues. Finding synergy, rotations, sharing best practices, using one common IT tool... They are all nice management terms, but quite challenging to realize in such an environment.
A uniform Process Map can help to describe the future (desired) situation. For the most important industries, Mainnovation has developed reference VDMXL-Process Maps. They describe the maintenance and asset management processes at various levels and link them to the responsible roles. In addition, we link industry-specific best practices to this Process Map, so that it can also be used as a training document. To support the harmonized processes, quick reference cards per IT action can also be linked to the steps in the process flows. Finally, it also references how one can monitor that the processes are executed as they should.
Customer Process Maps often start with the Mainnovation template and are then further refined according to the specific needs and vision of the customer. During this webinar, we explain how the VDMXL-Process Maps are structured and how customers can get started with them.
In this webinar we elaborate on:
- What does a best practice VDMXL-Process Map looks like?
- Should we describe the AS-IS or the TO-BE situation?
- Can we use one Process Map for departments or branches of different maturity?
- How do we unambiguously define responsibilities, even if the different departments or plants have entirely different job positions?
- How can we use Process Maps for ISO certification?
The VDMxl Deep Dive Sessions consists of 16 different webinars.
The webinars cover the most relevant topics in future maintenance, but WCM, World Class Maintenance and VDMXL, Value Driven Maintenance and Asset Management, are the foundation.
