HSE Training for Managers and Employers
According to the Working Environment Act, the employer is responsible for ensuring that the working environment in the company is fully satisfactory. Section 3-5 of the Working Environment Act states that the employer must undergo training in health, environment, and safety work. This obligation is personal and cannot be delegated.
Furthermore, the employer must ensure that employees who are assigned to lead or supervise other employees have the necessary competence to ensure that work is carried out in a manner that is safe and compliant with health and safety requirements. Legevakt Vest Occupational Health Service recommends that managers participate in our 40-hour HSE course.
Conducted digitally (Teams)
The course is intended for companies and industries where 40 hours of training is required.
Safety Representatives and AMU Representatives
Documentation of completed training
Upon completion of the training, participants will receive documentation confirming completion. This documentation must be included in the company’s internal control system and may be required to be presented to the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority.
There will be digital teaching sessions and assignments related to systematic HSE work between the 2nd and 3rd course day. The assignments are industry-adapted and can be implemented in the company’s actual HSE work.

Implementation
The course is conducted in cooperation with Legevakt Vest, which is one of the country’s leading occupational health services with a wide range of specialist medical services. They assist all industries, with a main focus on construction and civil engineering.
A detailed program with specific times will be sent by email along with the Teams link, the Internal Control Regulation, and other useful information.
There will be scheduled breaks and a lunch break during the course.
The employer must ensure that safety representatives and AMU representatives receive the necessary training to perform their duties in a responsible manner. The minimum requirement is 40 hours of training according to the Regulations on Organization, Management and Employee Participation § 3-19. In some cases, the employer and employees may agree on a shorter training period than 40 hours. Such an agreement must be based on an assessment of the risk conditions in the company, considering both their nature and scope, confirming that shorter training is justifiable. This assessment should be documented in writing. More extensive training may also be required where risk conditions indicate this. As an occupational health service, we can provide advice and recommendations in such cases.
